Staying Organised When You Have A Little One

When you have a baby to take care of, all organisation goes out the window. Regardless of whether you were a neat freak before giving birth, once you have a little one, you will find it harder to stay organised.

It’s amazing how much having a baby to care for changes things, it isn’t just time that you loose, but also motivation. However, that being said, by making a few changes to how you stay organised, it is possible to be an organised mummy.

To help you become an organised mum, here are a few handy tips and ideas to follow:

Share housework out

Instead of attempting to get all your housework done in one day, share it out throughout the week. When you have young children, it’s very rare that you will have long periods of time to dedicate to cleaning. That’s why assigning a task for each day of the week is the best way to keep on top of your household chores.

For instance, on Mondays you could clean the kitchen, on Tuesdays vacuum, and on Wednesdays clean the bedrooms. On Thursdays, you could do the washing, on Fridays, do the shopping, and Saturdays, wash the windows and bathroom. Then use Sundays as your day off, to relax and spend time with your family.

Get a calendar

When you have so many things to think about - work, babies, and other commitments, it’s easy to forget things. That’s why investing in a calendar is a must, as it will help you to plan out each day and ensure that you are organised with your daily tasks.

When it comes to choosing a calendar, pick something that motivates you. Such as a calendar of somewhere that you would like to visit, or maybe even of the area of where you live. If, for example, like me, you live in Australia, perhaps you could get an Australia calendar?  Or, if you like to travel, perhaps you could get a calendar that shows all the wonders of the world?

Invest in simple but stylish storage

If you don’t have enough storage, invest in some stylish storage containers that you can display around your home. Babies come with a lot of stuff, from toys and games to nappies and clothing, so it’s likely that you will have a few storage problems.

Things like oversized trunks, printed boxes and cute crates are all ideal for using for additional storage. Just make sure that whatever storage you opt for, that you label each container so that you know what is in there.

Get your baby’s food prepared in advance

Each Sunday evening, aim to prepare all the food and snacks your little one will need for the following week. Invest in seven plastic storage boxes, label each one with a day of the week and fill it with your baby’s food for that day.

By preparing your little one's food in advance, you will find it much easier to stay organised throughout the week. Plus, if you end up having to rush out one day, your little one's food will be prepared and ready to go.

Being a mum isn’t always easy, especially when your little one is young. It can be hard to stay organised, especially with so much to think about and do. But, by following the tips in this guide, you can make organisation much easier for yourself.
