A Guide to Adding More Interest to Your Home

Adding interest to your home stops it from looking dull and boring. It makes your home feel cosier and more comfortable. It can also make it look far more professionally decorated. Who wants a home that feels cold and uncomfortable anyway? This guide will help you to add more interest to your home:

Focus on Adding Textures

A home with lots of texture always looks interesting. When you add them, your goal should be to make people want to stroke them and touch as much as possible. Mix up as many textures as you can to create a look that’s extra cosy and comfortable. Use throws, cushions, carpets, and anything else you can think of to add the texture you need. There are lots of tutorials online, so you have no excuse not to do this properly.

Use Metallic Accents

Metallic accents always add interest to your home, so make sure you select them carefully. There are mirrors, vases, and other things you can use for this. Don’t go crazy; you don’t want your decor to look tacky. You want it to look interesting and classy!

Look for Quirky Ornaments and Accessories

Quirky ornaments and accessories will always add interest to your home. You’ll probably find your guests are fascinated with them and ask you where you got them. You might be able to find them online, or even in an antique shop. Even quirky furniture can work. Take a look at these butterfly chairs for sale to see what I mean.  It all depends on what your tastes are and the kind of look you envision in your home.

Repurpose Old Items in Unexpected Ways

I absolutely love it when old items are repurposed in unexpected ways. Why not use some old suitcases as a coffee table? You could even use old crates as shelves. People won’t expect it and that’s what makes it look really exciting. Your guests will wonder why they didn’t think of it first. You’ll probably find that some people even copy you!

Display Your Favourite Books/Art

I don’t think there’s anything more interesting than checking out somebody’s favourite artwork and books. Display yours proudly! Make sure you have a bookshelf filled with your favourite reads. There’s always room in the house for art too!

Add Life

Add life to your home by using flowers and fruit. It’s a really simple tip that always works to add interest. Don’t worry if you can’t afford to buy fresh fruit and flowers all the time either (we know it can be expensive). You can buy some pretty convincing fake ones, and you’ll never have to worry about topping them up ever again!

Hopefully this guide has helped you think of some new ways you can add interest to your home. There’s nothing worse than going into a boring home with no personality. Use these tips and you’ll be amazed at how you can make over your home. Leave any of your own tips below. See you back here for more soon!
