All throughout the year, there are chores that you are doing around the house. This might be washing up after dinner, vacuuming the floors, cleaning the windows or washing the sink. Each one needs doing regularly; otherwise, dirt builds up and your home becomes somewhere you less hospitable. However, there are some household chores that you only need to do every so often. Here are three such chores.

Clean the Gutters

Cleaning the gutters is a job that nobody wants to do, but that needs doing every so often. If you leave it too long and don’t clean out your gutters then worst case scenario you might end up with water coming through your roof. In order to avoid this, you need to clean your gutters. The reason they need cleaning is that leaves, dirt and other debris get stuck in them and this will clog them up. This means that when it rains, the water will not be able to flow down the gutters and away from your roof and home. Instead, it will build up and potentially end up flooding into your roof and home. You don’t want this to happen, so clean your gutters every so often - usually in the spring or at the end of autumn as these are seasons that can cause the most trouble.

Unblock The Sinks

Every now and again, you are going to need to unblock your sinks. There are different ways to unblock drains yourself, and you can find plenty of information about this through a simple Google Search. However, the reason that you need to unblock your drains is that otherwise, you won’t be able to get water down them and they will become unusable. If you unblock your drains every so often, then you will prevent any major blockages becoming an issue and keep your sinks working properly. You can help to prevent things like food, hair and other dirt going down your drain by using a drain filter. These will catch things that would normally go straight down your drain and start to cause a blockage. These a cheap investment and well worth using, but you will still need to unblock your sinks every so often anyway.

Bleed The Radiators

You will likely need to bleed your radiators every winter and potentially even a few times during the winter. If you don’t use your radiators for a long time or through the summer months, then air pockets can gather, and these will prevent the radiators working as they should. All you need is a radiator bleed key and to go round each and open the valve until the air is all gone. This will mean that the radiators work far better and will be able to heat the room. If you don’t do this, then you will be wasting your heating. You can tell if your radiator needs bleeding because it will be warm at the bottom, but cold on top. If it is like this, then bleed the radiators.
